I do have a couple of suggestions for design improvements that would help the functionality of the Eleven Rack in regards to editing rig settings :
1. Enable the "save" button to do 2 things instead of one, so that if pressed once quickly (held down for less than 1 second), it will temporarily save the adjusted rig settings from an edit session so that one can compare the edited rig to some other rigs without losing the edited parameters, and then if the results are as desired, the settings can be "permanently" saved by holding the save button down for a longer period of time. If one didn't want to stay with the edited settings, the save button could be pressed quickly (held down for less than 1 second) to return to the "permanently" saved rig setting. Toggling back and forth between the saved rig setting and the edited setting could be done by just pressing the save button quickly (each time it was pressed, either the edited setting or the saved setting would be accessed). This could be done for any of the rigs at the same time. The rig would remain on the "edited" setting (maybe shown by a blinking light) until the "save" button was pressed again to return to the "saved" setting, or until the saved setting was depressed for a longer time (to save the edited setting. This would all allow one to edit several different rigs, and have the settings be retained temporarily while one compared the edited rigs to other rigs, and then more permanently saved by either pressing the "save" button for a longer duration, or reverting back to the already saved rig setting by momentarily pressing the save button. If one toggled back to the rig's saved setting, and one navigated away from the rig to another rig, the edited settings would (should) be lost. The only way to preserve the edited settings should be if the "save" button is pressed momentarily, to store the edited rig settings until a decision is made about whether to save them.
I would think this would be possible to do without hardware changes.
2. Another useful change (but it might require hardware changes) would be enable one to copy the saved settings of individual effects (or amps, cabs, etc) from one rig, and paste them into the corresponding locations in another rig, so if one had a setting they liked for certain components of a rig, they could be saved for use in another rig. I don't know whether this could be done without adding other buttons, but if so, it would be a useful feature to have for editing rig settings. I know it can be done in a more time consuming and slightly less accurate way by matching the device's control knob positions to the saved settings, and then accessing the other rig and "jockeying" the control knobs for the device so that the saved settings are transferred to the new rig. However, this takes more time and isn't as accurate as the copy and paste option would be. It could be that copy and paste could be done to device settings within ProTools, but it would be nice to be able to do this on the Eleven Rack being used in a stand-alone mode.
Let me know what you think about the possibility of using some of these changes in future updates for Eleven Rack.
