SO many 3rd party plugins now contain huge patch preset libraries that are DESIGNED to be browsed and auditioned using the arrow keys (or other keys) on your alphanumeric keyboard, especially in virtual instruments. When choosing sounds you need to go through 20 presets at minute sometimes. Hardware synths and samplers and all other DAWS have ALWAYS had +/- physical buttons and patch scroll wheels because THEY ARE REQUIRED for efficient, speedy sound auditioning. (In Pro Tools, I still reach for the +/- Logic key commands, then when I realize that they're not actually there, my mind does a somersault, it's surreal.)
There is a very similar feature request in here for "scrolling through the air plugin presets like the + and - or the up and down keys." This is requesting the +/- keys at the top of plugins get assigned key command shortcuts.
What I am requesting is different and focuses on modern plugins that have built-in preset browsers. Most DAWs, like Logic, pass on the arrow keys into the plugin to browse and/or audition patch presets in their custom preset browsers. Pro Tools needs to pass the keyboard arrow keys onto the plug-ins so that we can quickly and easily browse and audition plugins without a mouse for speed and sanity.
