Currently (June 2015) when using the S3 as an AVB audio interface there is a high latency (8ms) at even the lowest available buffer size in PT12. If you could from within the S3 allow direct monitoring of inputs the audio interface would fulfil its potential. As it stands, with the latencies experienced now, tracking is not really an option. Vote for me!
coming from a ProControl I am missing the Talkback feature.
The S3 has everything built in to do that:
2 Mic inputs, A footswitch input and an unused button ("Mons to Mix)"
It only needs some tweaks in the firmware...
When mixing I don't need the record enable buttons, but the Automation mode buttons.
A setting in the preferences could swap the shift layer to "Rec" and the primary to "Automation"
This is would be a badass mid-level surface for composers, mixers etc where the Artist mix doesn't show enough (and has crappy jello squish buttons).. and the D-command or C24 is just too big. It looks better built, plenty of faders, dual row of encoders, metering per strip, and so on.
