This is would be a badass mid-level surface for composers, mixers etc where the Artist mix doesn't show enough (and has crappy jello squish buttons).. and the D-command or C24 is just too big. It looks better built, plenty of faders, dual row of encoders, metering per strip, and so on. This would be great for PT11! :) :) The only thing still though borrowed from the Artist mix.. why is the track select amd ...more »
You got a few buttons that are more focused for live use than for Studio use. Instead of keeping them that way, why not change the label to what they would actually be used in the studio?
Also, instead of the transport strip that says 1 2 3 4, have it set to rewind, fast-forward, play stop. And for the love of God take out the press shift and then press 1 2 3 4 to make it work... dumbest thing ever.
I hope for the ability to edit clip gain using the S3.
Please provide the ability to power external 12v lights using the convenience ports of the S3 in studio mode as this is already is permitted and usable in live mode.
When mixing I don't need the record enable buttons, but the Automation mode buttons.
A setting in the preferences could swap the shift layer to "Rec" and the primary to "Automation"
my "dream come true" layout of the S3 would be a custom channel strip for the upper 16 knobs.
So one could setup for example 8 knobs for EQ, 3 for Compressor, 2 for De-Esser, etc. and the possible fixed assignments (like 2 knobs for reverb)
When working in Latch mode I don't see if a track is in automation. this is important since it's easy on the S3 to accidentallly touch a fader and put in wrtie that way... -a simple solution a blinking "rw" in the display -more elegant the whole display blinking - very nice: (like on the ProControl) using the mulitcolor LEDs to indicate the automation mode and status off- off green - read red latch/touch yellow - trim ...more »
you can set EuCon to select tracks via touching faders
that way I can't use latch prime.
a nice feature ( as preference of course) would be to select tracks via one row of knobs instead the select button.
the select button next to the faders could then be used for future features like VCA spill...
the upper OLED displays are hard to read and the knobs are in the way to see the lower line. This is a hardware issue that can't be fixed, but the upper row of the OLED is not used at all except on the first display that shows you the name of the attentioned track. It would be cool to replace the values now shown as bars with actual numbers or text on the top row of the display. (this makes sense for EQ parameters that ...more »
I like the use of colours on the S3.
I think it would make sense to use the same colors (EQ, DYN, Insert) for the Channel Encoder Assign keys.
Very important in my opinion is a flashing or red LED when you have the faders in "Flip" mode.
On the right Fn Keys it would be nice to have different colors as well. But I hope they will become custom EuCon keys with custom colour anyway...
Same thing as for the artist series and S6: Please bring custom Plug-in mapping to Eucon as known for years on Icon, C24 and common Command8. Plug-in control is nearly useless on all Eucon surfaces as long as you cannot customize the parameter layout. Especially for plug-ins with a huge amount of parameters.
The first reasonably priced (about USD 80) AVB Ethernet PCIe card is now available, namely the Intel I210T1 AVB-E nic. What is missing in the Windows world is glue software between the nic and ASIO. This is a request to develop an AVB driver for Windows so that owners of S3's and S3L's can use AVB to link the I/O in the S3 with their PT or Venue host.
