File Relinking - Parent / Clip Name Bug

If an audio file in a Pro Tools session is renamed externally (i.e. using Windows explorer, or Finder) Pro Tools can be forced to link to the renamed file using the 'Find by File ID' option on reopening the session. Although this is fine for the short term, it presents a bit of problem. "Apply to all" checkbox when removing unused files from the BIN.

When I get a faulty OMF (containing much more timeline and clips than the actual video) I usually import, cleanup and import that in a new session again. Because:

When selecting and removing unused data, you have to click "yes" or " no" for every single file. So when it's 10294 files you have to say "yes" or "no" for all 10294 files, no way to get out of it.

Audio Wild Record / Audio Clip Selection "Clip Source Window"

The Ability to record in the "Clip Source Window" a wild mono or stereo track, where the clip ends up in the Clip menu or a specified folder i.e Wild VO Records, saves a lot of time and maintains a clean timeline, rather than having to navigate through unneeded extra

tracks and clips on the timeline which is very time consuming. please see attachment.

Pro Tools makes it incredibly difficult to make sure you've copied all files to your session. It should be MUCH easier to avoid missing files in Pro Tools sessions. Especially hard drives ...more »

"Automatically Copy Files on Import" should be checked as default state under PT preference.

the option "automatically Copy files on Import" under processing in PT preference should be Checked as default. Because PT's default is to have this option unchecked, sometimes when PT crashes and it's database corrupts and preference resets, it will unchecked this option without the user's consent. Today, I suffered a crash in PT that corrupted my preference and I wasn't aware the copy file on import option was unchecked ...more »
