In the Edit window, it's convenient to work with MIDI in velocity view most of the time. I can't think of any reason why we should have to switch to Notes view to consolidate.
I have midi track, already have a midi clip. Midi merge is off. Loop playback and record is off (and so is destructive and quickpunch record). Also tried dynamic transport on and off. When I record this midi track, it doesn't create a new midi clip, it is updating the existing clip. I have Midi merge off so I am confused what it's doing this. I want it to create a whole new midi clip when I record in this mode. also ...more »
I would love to have an option to switch MIDI editor to DRUM EDIT MODE where there would be diamond or triangle markers for note start without showing its length. Would be also nice to have a possibility to switch from classic piano roll to MIDI note number mode, to set names for notes, load and save note names to file and display custom layers (e.g. show only named notes or show notes defined by user).
Currently (PT 12.8), when freezing instrument tracks, it will not mute the MIDI output of that track automatically. So, for example, if you're routing several instrument tracks to one instance of Kontakt, when you freeze the tracks, unless you mute the MIDI output of each one manually, they'll still play in the background and use up resources. The feature I'm requesting is to simply make it so whenever you freeze a ...more »
In the MIDI editor, you can solo and mute the track you're working on, but you can't record-enable it. You also can't tell if it may already be record-enabled. It would really help my workflow to be able to quickly pop into record without flipping back to either the mix or edit windows to know what track(s) are currently record enabled and be able to modify that from here.
To me, one of the top features in Logic (and even GarageBand), but missing from ProTools, is this: Being able to put down a drum track, tell it where to play, tweak the complexity/loudness/fills/swing/etc, and straight away get a pretty decent 'human'-sounding drum track. It's also possible to have it 'follow' audio tracks and more effectively pick out a rhythm. It can even be copied to a MIDI track, tweaked and put to ...more »
Allow Window Configurations of the MIDI Editor window to save current MIDI controller lane views. Currently they save window layout, but not specific controller lane views.
For example, save one MIDI Editor Window Config that is just Mod Wheel, one that's velocity + volume + expression, one that's just pitch bend, etc.
Great idea (via egroys over at the DUC).
It would be great if we could rename CC controller lanes.
For example, instead of Undefined (21) to something like 'Vibrato'.
I would like to see Instrument tracks have an ' input monitoring button ' ..., the same as Audio Tracks do. Many people actually rehearse their gig ...., - trigger samples to tempo maps etc running in pro tools,, - or others who like JAM along via Pro Tools on a Macbook Pro's etc with a decent low latency Interface hooked up to their rehearsal room P.A's , and once in a blue moon they may actually record with it. ...more »
We should be able to save and recall real-time property presets the way we can store plug-in presets (especially Delay offsets).
To separate MIDI notes on the grid: 1. Set the Grid value. 2. Make an Edit selection or a marquee selection that includes the MIDI notes you want to separate. 3. Choose Edit > Separate > On Grid. 4. In the Pre-Separate Amount dialog, click OK. I've been using this feature a lot since discovering it hidden away in the edit menu, but I like to work quickly with keyboard shortcuts and I feel slowed down having to use the ...more »
