Obviously, the ALL group is helpful, but there are some tracks (e.g. Reverb Aux, Mix-Level Aux, Instrument-Grouping Auxes, etc.) which I want to always keep at 0 dB. It'd be great if we had a (completely optional) choice to modify the ALL group, flagging specific tracks it *shouldn't* control. If this option isn't enabled, the functionality of this group should remain completely as it is today - don't want to disrupt ...more »
Some of the most popular feature requests on here were originally posted in 2009. Things like track folders, which are available in virtually every other DAW, but even more needed in Pro Tools, where film mixers have several hundred tracks to grapple with. That's a lot of scrolling. Instead of focusing on things like Atmos integration, which affects a tiny fraction of your users, please implement the features your larger ...more »
In my standard session format, I like to have, for example, each kit piece at a 'Mini' size, so it's easier to navigate. Trouble is, whenever I import that to a different session, it makes them all whatever size is being used most recently there, meaning I have to resize all 12 tracks every time!
Would be great if the session data import screen had a checkbox option to retain origin track height.
I would love to have an option to switch MIDI editor to DRUM EDIT MODE where there would be diamond or triangle markers for note start without showing its length. Would be also nice to have a possibility to switch from classic piano roll to MIDI note number mode, to set names for notes, load and save note names to file and display custom layers (e.g. show only named notes or show notes defined by user).
On the mix window, meters are displayed to the right of the fader (i.e. after it), yet the default meters in PT are PRE-fader. It would be a lot clearer and more intuitive if these were shown the other way around, with any pre-fader meter placed just before its corresponding fader. To a pro, I'm sure this seems like a pointless difference, but I think it would help reduce confusion from newcomers in terms of how to ...more »
Most of the time, when I change the grid size, I also ideally want the nudge values to match that new grid. I don't want to take away the option for them to be different, but it'd be great to have a little 'Link' icon I could toggle, whereby if I change the Grid to, say, 8ths, Nudge automatically changes to 8ths too. Having this would also help to get around the fact that the Grid +/- shortcuts don't seem to work on ...more »
With automation spots, faders, etc. it'd be great to see an option where I can right-click and select 'Type in Value...' to get a pop-up or something like that. This could probably be used in a number of places throughout the app without really requiring the basic GUI to become more cluttered. Sliders & dials are great, sure, but sometimes it can be tough to get exactly the desired value, even when pressing Cmd. In ...more »
Currently if you have any "extra" windows open (Plugins, Markers, System Usage, etc) you can press Ctrl+Opt+Cmd+W to close ALL extra windows. Cmd+W only closes the Edit and Mixer windows. But while you're tweaking a plugin's parameters, THAT window is active instead (Edit & Mixer window buttons are greyed out) so Cmd+W should just close THAT plugin's window, rather than the Edit window, shouldn't it? If you open a ...more »
To me, one of the top features in Logic (and even GarageBand), but missing from ProTools, is this: Being able to put down a drum track, tell it where to play, tweak the complexity/loudness/fills/swing/etc, and straight away get a pretty decent 'human'-sounding drum track. It's also possible to have it 'follow' audio tracks and more effectively pick out a rhythm. It can even be copied to a MIDI track, tweaked and put to ...more »
The majority of applications for Mac (and also some for Windows) support the two-finger pinch-to-zoom in/out gesture on touchpads, yet Pro Tools does not.
Cmd [ ] is great, but having this gesture-based functionality enabled would definitely make for faster workflow when moving around a session.
The two-finger drag works, so why not this?
Right click on the track name. The resulting menu gives you the option of add to or remove the track from the groups. Just like selecting inputs and outputs, hovering over "Add to group" gives you a drop down list with all the groups. Click the group and bam, it's added. Hover over over "Remove from group" gives you a list of all the groups the track is in. Click the group and bam, it's not in that group anymore. This ...more »
I was wondering if you could allow the User Interface base colors in the edit window to be changed close to the mix windows ability to change the color scheme. There are 256 shades of every color,so please pick more pleasant and attractive shades of color. Also allow users to change the color scheme of the audio and midi clips. The color scheme of the program is possibly the ugliest of all the DAW'S.Help me change the ...more »
