I request the surgical coalescing of volume automation (VCA or Volume Trim) in a time selection. This would be very effective in mixes where one is using a mixing lane for a specific leveling function and then accidentally or "by seat of the pants" - incorporates a dramatic mix move that would ideally be placed on a different fader - coalescing the selection would move only the selection while preserving the automation ...more »
I request a method of performing a "save as" that is not buried in the Audio Suite choice. Maybe these saves would be saved to a menu. This would be used to retrieve an ability to achieve a perviously used effect/function without remembering the tool choice itself. It would enable associating a project based identity, or the name of a character, or device. I sometimes find myself selecting 50 different Audio Suite plugins ...more »
I request an Audio Suite view format displaying multiple Audio Suite choices as a single square organized with named tabs. Instead of having 3 or 8 Audio Suite choices cluttering up the edit window or other monitors they would be in a nice stack. Perhaps there would be a moderately sized Audio Suite icon that would expand into actual tool size so that there would be minimal obstruction of edit window. Any combination ...more »
There is a shortcut for reset waveform zoom level crtl-alt-command-[
Maybe also a shortcut for zoom waveform to maximum crtl-alt-command-]
Working with video projects or productions with multiple versions, it's always bugging me how I have to create X amount of new sessions and re-import everything, including a plethora of audio tracks, fades, plugin settings etc. all of which will be duplicated on my local drive. Wouldn't it be more simple if Pro Tools allowed us to create "Sequences" the way video editors do? The way I see it, we could open a "new sequence ...more »

The plugin layout for EQ3 is horrendous. Specifically having to switch between Q and frequency is ridiculous. I always need both of those controls at the same time. I would much rather have an extra page of parameters than have to switch to Q any time I need it. Custom plugin mapping would solve this problem as well but this seems pretty basic and is not a problem on any of the other avid control surfaces.
Just like AIR Music Technology and Eventide allow:
How many computers can I activate my license on?
Using iLok License Manger, you can activate the license in two separate locations, each of which can be either a computer, or an iLok license key. You can move these licenses at any time using PACE's iLok License Manager software.
I know it's not impacting everyone, but for me, going from 12.7.1 to 12.8.1 introduced a new crash which happens every time I try to quit the app: it just shows the generic 'Send to Avid' crash reporter. Apparently, the same happened for some others who tried 12.8.0 also. For me, it's completely tied to whether or not I have Guitar Rig 5.2.2 in my plugins folder or not, but there could well be other plugins related to ...more »
In my standard session format, I like to have, for example, each kit piece at a 'Mini' size, so it's easier to navigate. Trouble is, whenever I import that to a different session, it makes them all whatever size is being used most recently there, meaning I have to resize all 12 tracks every time!
Would be great if the session data import screen had a checkbox option to retain origin track height.
Currently in playlist mode you have two options under the playlist name: "Solo" and "Up Arrow". When comping vocals it is very common to track a bunch of takes and make main vocals, double vocals, and quad vocals. The same could be said for comping guitar tracks or anything that needs doubles or quads. If you look on the left, those two buttons leave enough real-estate for possibly 5 more buttons. The buttons I would ...more »
When committing MIDI to audio by drag&drop onto an audio track, the current state of (some?) CC data is ignored. This can cause committing by this method to produce a different result than committing by using the Commit command. It also fails to extend the committed audio clip to accommodate ongoing audio signals. PT 12.8.1
