Most of the time, when I change the grid size, I also ideally want the nudge values to match that new grid. I don't want to take away the option for them to be different, but it'd be great to have a little 'Link' icon I could toggle, whereby if I change the Grid to, say, 8ths, Nudge automatically changes to 8ths too. Would also help to get around the fact that the grid +/- shortcuts don't seem to work on my MacBook ...more »
Sliders & dials are great, sure, but sometimes it can be tough to get exactly the desired value, even when pressing Cmd. A lot of plugins allow you to simply type in values, so why not provide the same option when I click on the panning numbers? Typing in L50, R100 or whatever would be a faster option. Similarly, with sliders and automation spots, it'd be great to see an option where I can right-click and select 'Type ...more »
To me, one of the top features in Logic (and even GarageBand), but missing from ProTools, is this: Being able to put down a drum track, tell it where to play, tweak the complexity/loudness/fills/swing/etc, and straight away get a pretty decent 'human'-sounding drum track. It can even be copied to a MIDI track, tweaked and put to any instrument. (See attached screenshot if you're not familiar with this Logic feature). ...more »
The majority of applications for Mac (and also some for Windows) support the two-finger pinch-to-zoom in/out gesture on touchpads, yet Pro Tools does not.
Cmd [ ] is great, but having this gesture-based functionality enabled would definitely make for faster workflow when moving around a session.
The two-finger drag works, so why not this?
Right click on the track name. The resulting menu gives you the option of add to or remove the track from the groups. Just like selecting inputs and outputs, hovering over "Add to group" gives you a drop down list with all the groups. Click the group and bam, it's added. Hover over over "Remove from group" gives you a list of all the groups the track is in. Click the group and bam, it's not in that group anymore. This ...more »
I was wondering if you could allow the User Interface base colors in the edit window to be changed close to the mix windows ability to change the color scheme. There are 256 shades of every color,so please pick more pleasant and attractive shades of color. Also allow users to change the color scheme of the audio and midi clips. The color scheme of the program is possibly the ugliest of all the DAW'S.Help me change the ...more »
EuControl just sees one configuration. When you open a program like Pro Tools or Nuendo, EuControl just sees this software and any adjustment you do to the configuration gets saved under the application's name. Nuendo is then Nuendo.xml or something. But what if I have 2 different types of work and I'd like to adjust my layout for Nuendo? Or there are 2 users using Nuendo on this machine and each of them would like to ...more »
Sometimes you just want to delete a whole bund of SoftKeys, or move them somewhere else. It would be great if one could select more than one SoftKey and then drag and drop it somewhere or at least delete them all in one go and not having to select each one of them one by one and clicking "Clear".
It takes a lot of time setting up SoftKeys. Especially because one can only edit them one at a time. When I want to adjust the layout of SoftKeys to fit my workflow better, I need to delete a SoftKey and in that place, set up a completely new key from scratch. But the key I'm looking for is there, just on another page. I cannot copy and paste it, which would save me a lot of time. I need to create it from scratch. Also, ...more »
It takes a lot of time setting up SoftKeys. It would be nice if this time-consuming process could be made simpler and faster. For example, EuCon is very powerful and covers probably hundreds of features. Instead of having to know where a function is in the menu hierarchy, a find as you type would be great! This way, you don't have to search through all the menus, just type a word and the list filters by this word and ...more »
Suggest to add a user created directory of folders in the clip bin. Drag and drop - moving parent or sub-clips into folders for easier management of files in the pro tools main window.
Take a page from Cubase's book and have an option (or default) where each note in the piano roll of the MIDI Editor also displays it's note name.
In dense parts or score, being able to quickly read where a "bad" note is or how the part is laid out in Piano Roll mode would make life SOOOOOOO much better for those of us writing music daily.
Attached picture is low-res, but you get the idea.
