Pinning track at the top of edit window

Stage: Active

Campaign: Pro Tools features

I know this feature from Microsoft Excel. Yeah, right, nothing one can compare to a DAW. But, listen:

I think what engineers and editors (especially in the post world) really need is the possibility to pin a track to the top of the edit window (end even the mix window), so one can scroll vertically anywhere but certain tracks (tracks for rerecording, a guide track when editing foley or adr or similar) is visible at any time. That would be so useful. Really.

Improved interface

Stage: Active

Campaign: Pro Tools features

Pro tools needs improvement of the interface, you can't get rid of buttons like the magnifying glass or rewind buttons. the memory location and window configuration should be 1 window and should be docked to the side somewhere. the tracks could be modified to work better.

Improve Automation Lane

Stage: Active

Campaign: Pro Tools features

Improve Automation Lane

It show be made easier to show a Automation Lane on every Track, showing a Send Level (A, B, C,…)

(Automation Lane ≠ Track Lane [Track Lane is showing the Waveform for easy access for clip gain in this example])

(While in the Arrangement Window)

You can Show an Automation Lanes for all Tracks with alt Clicking the small triangle in the Color-Bar of a Track.

You can also switch the shown automation (Default: Volume) for all Tracks with alt Clicking the Dropdown Menu and Choosing a Track Parameter (Pan).

But it is not possible to show the Level for Example Send A for all tracks with alt Clicking it in the Drop Down Menu.

This should be made possible for Example to see the Level Automation of a Send feeding into a Reverb for all Tracks while showing the Waveform in the Tracklane at the same time.

Selected tracks highlight

Stage: Active

Campaign: Pro Tools features

Highlighting selected tracks by coloring backround of track name white sometime isn't enough. When you have high resolution screen it goes far left. When your attention focused at the center and you want to make action which will touch selected tracks you have to check which tracks are selected and look left (even turn head if screen is big).

Blinking cursor on active tracks isn't always on the center of the screen.

How about highlighting selected tracks (including clips) in main window with slight discoloration for example, like inactive tracks?

"Clear All Mutes" button

Stage: Active

Campaign: Pro Tools features

Already it is possible to click on the Solo indicator in the transport window or the transport panel to clear all of the Solo's on each track in the session.

The Mute indicator has no such function however, it merely indicates that you have a muted track somewhere. Would it be possible to also make this a click-able button that would clear the mutes on each track?

iTunes-style search filter tracks by track names

Stage: Active

Campaign: Pro Tools features

Quickly find "vox" or "sd" by typing in a search box in the edit or mix windows. Pro Tools would then narrow down the tracks displayed to show only tracked whose names contain the search string, allowing you to quickly locate tracks without scrolling. Especially useful since we are talking up to over 700 track capability now!

Elastic Audio with dominant/controller tracks

Stage: Active

Campaign: Pro Tools features

When editing drums in elastic audio, I have to do most of the editing manually. If I select 8 bars of audio, then quantise it to the grid setting I want, it doesn't always pick the warp markers I want. For example, it may pick up on the kick in the snare track and quantise that instead of the actual kick, therefore offsetting my kick by a few milliseconds...

If you could set certain tracks to be dominant/controller tracks, and others to be slaves, you could then select a full group of drums, quantise a section and have it only pay attention to warp markers within the "snare" or "kick". Even similar to beat detective where you could "warp" the snare, then warp the kick and it would still retain the kick edits...

It's hard to explain over here but I think this gets the point across. It would save hours in editing.
