Big mixes require good organization, it would be great to be able to have track folders (for example-for your 32 tracks of drums!)
Right click on the track name. The resulting menu gives you the option of add to or remove the track from the groups. Just like selecting inputs and outputs, hovering over "Add to group" gives you a drop down list with all the groups. Click the group and bam, it's added. Hover over over "Remove from group" gives you a list of all the groups the track is in. Click the group and bam, it's not in that group anymore. This ...more »
With automation spots, faders, etc. it'd be great to see an option where I can right-click and select 'Type in Value...' to get a pop-up or something like that. This could probably be used in a number of places throughout the app without really requiring the basic GUI to become more cluttered. Sliders & dials are great, sure, but sometimes it can be tough to get exactly the desired value, even when pressing Cmd. In ...more »
Suggest to add a user created directory of folders in the clip bin. Drag and drop - moving parent or sub-clips into folders for easier management of files in the pro tools main window.
In windows 10 (and earlier) and Pro Tools 12 (and earlier), windows appear with large borders around and some even with the windows 7 look for some reason.
It looks clumsy and also wastes space.
It is time that Pro Tools fixes this, probably by making custom designed window borders.
Attached is a draft of what it could look like.
It would be very efficient and useful to have a keyboard shortcut for flipping through matching field recorder channels. This would help post production folks quickly toggle to the next mic/channel from a field recorder. Sometimes there are 10 matching field recorder channels and right clicking the region each time gets really time consuming so having a keyboard shortcut for this would speed things up tremendously.
The majority of applications for Mac (and also some for Windows) support the two-finger pinch-to-zoom in/out gesture on touchpads, yet Pro Tools does not.
Cmd [ ] is great, but having this gesture-based functionality enabled would definitely make for faster workflow when moving around a session.
The two-finger drag works, so why not this?
On the mix window, meters are displayed to the right of the fader (i.e. after it), yet the default meters in PT are PRE-fader. It would be a lot clearer and more intuitive if these were shown the other way around, with any pre-fader meter placed just before its corresponding fader. To a pro, I'm sure this seems like a pointless difference, but I think it would help reduce confusion from newcomers in terms of how to ...more »
I was wondering if you could allow the User Interface base colors in the edit window to be changed close to the mix windows ability to change the color scheme. There are 256 shades of every color,so please pick more pleasant and attractive shades of color. Also allow users to change the color scheme of the audio and midi clips. The color scheme of the program is possibly the ugliest of all the DAW'S.Help me change the ...more »
My understanding of compound time signatures is that they're distinct from others because they group notes into 3s (e.g. 12/8 differs mainly from 6/4 because it contains 4 groups of 3 notes, rather than 3 groups of 2; same with 6/8 vs 3/4, etc.). The Pro Tools rulers don't seem to reflect that. Instead, for 6/8, 9/8, 12/8, etc., the dividing lines still group quarter notes into 2s or 4s, putting the emphasis on different ...more »
Pro Tools 11 looks dated with it's skeuomorphic interface and plug-in designs. I'd love to see it go and replaced with an efficient flat graphical design.
