How about a touch screen control surface app for the Apple iPad?

A preference to have the "F2 Midi Edit" button on the Command 8 open and close the new PT8 MIDI Editor would be nice!

Rolling MIDI note editing similar to a Rolling edit in Final Cut Pro.
Say you're dragging the end of a note to lengthen it and you drag its end past the start of the next note. Obviously you get an overlap.
I'm proposing a modifier key so when you drag past the start of the next note, the start of the next note also gets moved in tandem to the same place as the end of the note you're dragging. The same modifier would also work when dragging the head of a note to change the length. The length of the preceding note gets changed in tandem.
Also if you're dragging a note's position forwards or backwards in time, the same modifier could be used to change the length of previous and subsequent notes whilst the note you're dragging stays the same length.
An example: Say you have an 8th note on beat one and another an 8th note later. Both are an 8th note long . You drag the second 8th note back by a 16th with the modifier held down so it shortens the first eighth note to a 16th. Same situation but you drag the start of the second note back a 16th with the modifier held down. Again the first note gets shortened to a 16th but the second note's length is changed to 3/16th notes.
Hope that made sense!

With TDM and RTAS plug-ins you can nominate a default EQ and Comp plug in and also nominate plug-ins as favourites.
It would be cool to be able to do the same thing with AudioSuite plug-ins and have a user-defined default plug in or two at the top of the AudioSuite menu that can be invoked with a keyboard command.
Also a keyboard command to open the last-opened Audio-Suite plug-in would be good!

I'd like to see a Digidesign version of inter-application bussing. Something like Rewire, Soundflower or Apogee's V-Bus.
The idea being that I could run a VI host like Bidule, standalone VIs or even another DAW like Logic running outside of PT and have them bus audio into the Pro Tools mixer.
I know I can do this with Rewire but it chews up PT CPU like crazy!!! I'd like to see something more robust and professional from Digi so I don't have to rely on a third party protocol.

Some feature requests for the MIDI editor.
Key commands for: 1. Shifting pitch of selected notes by semitone 2. Shifting pitch of selected notes by octave 3. Select top line of polyphonic parts 4. Select bottom line of polyphonic parts 5. Rip-off Logic's "Select By Equal Sub-Position" command (for example, if notes at beat 2 and 4 of a bar of a snare region are selected, this command would select the notes at beat 2 and 4 in every other bar of the region.) 6. An "invert" selection command would work well with the above 7. Modifier keys for changing note lengths. For example, hold option and drag the end of one of a selection of notes and they all snap to the same length of the note being dragged. Similarly, command and option dragging one of a selected group of notes would snap all the velocities to be equal to the note being dragged on.
