It would be great if I could pan a send using the surround panner. Currently, the PT Control app can only pan a surround send using the individual parameters and not the touch screen panner.
A midi arpeggiator much like the one found in ableton live. A midi effect that arpeggiates midi signals, used to control plugins or hardware. A full suite of such midi tools would sure be great, but an arpeggiator would be a nice start.
The competition has had this sort of creation tools for years.
When I record a MIDI piano, Rhodes or similar, playing chords which I want to keep sounding natural, I usually don't use quantize, unless I want that unnaturally tight sound. I would love to have Pro Tools recognize chords from single notes (maybe with a special 'Chord Quantize' feature), and leave the relationship between the chrod notes intact (timing wise). Soft-quantize the whole chord towards the grid! As it is now, ...more »
Every time I drag an audio file from Pro Tools browser window into session edit window, the clip fails to copy with "Unknown Error".
I am using Pro Tools 220.127.116.117 on macOS 10.13.4. I have the setting enabled to copy audio files on import. If I close the session and open it again, the files are successfully copied. But this is very annoying to have to do every time I want to hear the audio file in the session.
An additional "playlist" style option for each track that would let you recall plugin chains and automation sets.
This way instead of importing session data from previous mix revisions in order to undo silly client requests while still keeping all other mix revision changes you could just jump back to an other playlist of automation and plugins assignments/settings for each track individually.
i'know... it's my problem, but i usually use the "write automation to" and sometimes i wrong the command and i press to all and not to end. And ok, i can undo the operation but sometimes i see the mistake after other operation.... so i think is good for people like me 😅 to have a lock automation for a time selection. So when a scene is ok, i lock all the automation.
I would like to always have tracknames in the track Oleds. And it would be great when the little triangles that help you to match previous levels show too.
Please, the ProTools color palette is short and the colors are all very similar. Would it be possible to add other color palettes, or at least offer the possibility of customizing those colors and be able to save those palettes in a personal preset that is loaded by default?
Currently it is not possible to import an instrument or retrieve a preset for a track without also importing its automation from the previous session. So every time you use any of the two features, you have to proceed to erase that automation after, track by track. I think that this behavior is not the correct way it should work, and it should be adjusted by default to NOT importing / saving the automation, but the plugings, ...more »
I mix some bands that use a complete classical orchestra plus drums, guitars, keyboards, etc... They give me up to 250 tracks to mix, that added to my own tracks for auxiliars, submixes, VCAs, masters, etc make my sessions to reach sometimes the 300 tracks in a mix. Thanks ProTools 12, the number of voices will never be a problem again. But navigating though that amount of tracks is more than a pain. Logic Audio has the ...more »
When I am mixing and I have already adjusted the overall volume of an instrument, and start to automate, I usually do not move the fader beyond 0.3dB-0.5dB. I am all the time with the left hand pressing the command key to make these small movements in the fader, to the point that every so often I suffer from epicondylitis in the left arm derived from this problem. My TC6000 System has the ability to block a fader with ...more »
I often do several songs in one session. Especially bands that come in to do 5 or 6 songs in one tracking session. So there's KICK, SNARE, HAT, BASS etc. So I will, at the start of a take of each new song, create a marker with the song title, I.E. JohnnyBGoode. I enter the name in the marker field, select Ctrl A for ALL to highlight all the text, CTRL C to copy the selected text, hit the numeric pad "enter" to create ...more »
