One of the key qualities of Pro Tools was always its solid professionalism with regards to past sessions. Where you'd need three+ plus different versions of, say, Logic to open an older session in a current version, Pro Tools would just give you a couple of pop-up options, make a WAV copy of the SD2 files and you'd be back in business. Unfortunately this wonderful feature ended with PT 10/11. I have a large archive of ...more »
Simple as that. Currently Pro Tools is limited to 4 sets of 26 groups - 1 group for each letter of the alphabet, 4 times over - or 104 in total. For large post production sessions (especially when working with 'multiple mono' tracks), this really isn't enough. Would dearly love to see this limitation removed
Add a preference tick box: make all new aux-tracks solo safe by default
Would it not be great if every plugin inserts offered a native, standard way to switch to parallel processing? Pressing a button on the top and mixing in the effect? On stereo channels, it would be great to press a button to switch to M/S instead of L/R, even if the plugin did not have M/S. And along with that, a High Pass to cut things from the side channel and redirect more energy to the center channel (and a stereo ...more »
I have been using clip-based EQ quite a lot recently, and am even considering replacing my current method of EQ automation when mixing dialogue tracks. However, this method severely slows me down when I have to go in and make changes to regions via audiosuite. I use a lot of audiosuite processing on clips via iZotope RX, and often have to go in and remove an extra click or pop well past the editing phase, and I have ...more »
So Pro Tools can import field created poly broadcast wave films with time code and spot them to the timeline, with track names (I wish there was a batch way to do this but we'll ignore that for now) I just wish there was a way to easily export those tracks plus new ones, a mix say, as a multitrack poly broadcast wave file with timecode it would be so brilliant for what I often end up doing. Even a cheap Zoom F8 can create ...more »
Would be great to replace the current threshold which only looks at overall level with something that can take into account only specific frequencies. Use case: manual de-ess of backing vocals tracks.
Title says it all, but why Pro Tools' default timecode location for where to place imported audio from a movie isn't the current movie location is beyond me. It gets old typing the starting timecode position to match the video each time.
I would love to be able to setup a preset track with volume, panning and plugins and save the track settings as a preset that would be used when dragging in a piece of audio from the browser. For example, I would use a Drag From Browser Preset that where the volume of any new tracks were already turned down -12 dB.
Most engineers bounce audio at there "house" standard like 24bit 48Khz etc. I would like a preference set in the preferences section that would always set the bounce profile to my house standard. If I create a session and then bounce out the audio I would like it to conform to the perimeters that I set in my Preference/bounce setting. I could always override the setting but it would be nice if the bounce settings didn't ...more »
i'm using revibe for my dubbing work and i need to have in revibe a different level of early and tail between center/Front/rear channel
now i can only change the level of the all reverb (early+tail)
It would be very useful to split the notes directly to the existing tracks by choosing them in the split window with a pop-up menu
