Option to Retain Track Height on Import

In my standard session format, I like to have, for example, each kit piece at a 'Mini' size, so it's easier to navigate. Trouble is, whenever I import that to a different session, it makes them all whatever size is being used most recently there, meaning I have to resize all 12 tracks every time!

Would be great if the session data import screen had a checkbox option to retain origin track height.

Link/Sync Option for Nudge & Grid

Most of the time, when I change the grid size, I also ideally want the nudge values to match that new grid.

I don't want to take away the option for them to be different, but it'd be great to have a little 'Link' icon I could toggle, whereby if I change the Grid to, say, 8ths, Nudge automatically changes to 8ths too.

Having this would also help to get around the fact that the Grid +/- shortcuts don't seem to work on... more »

Enable Typing-In of Automation and Other Values

With automation spots, faders, etc. it'd be great to see an option where I can right-click and select 'Type in Value...' to get a pop-up or something like that. This could probably be used in a number of places throughout the app without really requiring the basic GUI to become more cluttered.

Sliders & dials are great, sure, but sometimes it can be tough to get exactly the desired value, even when pressing Cmd.

Command+W shortcut to close active plugin window

Currently if you have any "extra" windows open (Plugins, Markers, System Usage, etc) you can press Ctrl+Opt+Cmd+W to close ALL extra windows. Cmd+W only closes the Edit and Mixer windows. But while you're tweaking a plugin's parameters, THAT window is active instead (Edit & Mixer window buttons are greyed out) so Cmd+W should just close THAT plugin's window, rather than the Edit window, shouldn't it?

If you open a... more »

A.I. Drum Tracks

To me, one of the top features in Logic (and even GarageBand), but missing from ProTools, is this: Being able to put down a drum track, tell it where to play, tweak the complexity/loudness/fills/swing/etc, and straight away get a pretty decent 'human'-sounding drum track. It's also possible to have it 'follow' audio tracks and more effectively pick out a rhythm. It can even be copied to a MIDI track, tweaked and put to... more »

Enable Pinch-to-Zoom Gestures

The majority of applications for Mac (and also some for Windows) support the two-finger pinch-to-zoom in/out gesture on touchpads, yet Pro Tools does not.

Cmd [ ] is great, but having this gesture-based functionality enabled would definitely make for faster workflow when moving around a session.

The two-finger drag works, so why not this?

Automation should follow Elastic Audio trending idea

Elastic Audio changes audio-length only. Unfortunately all automation will stay at original length. This unlinked manner makes the nice Elastic Audio feature quite worthless in my opinion since all existing automation goes wrong after Elastic editing.
So what about "Elastic-Automation" ? Intuitive standard behavior should be linked timescaling of Audio and Automation in one edit-step. Working title: "Elastic Audiomation".... more »

Name Tracks when Created

Hi guys, love the software. Would really help if we could name the tracks when we set them up. I.e. when create a new track, the fields would be 1) # tracks to create, 2 ) Mono or Stereo, 3) Type of track [Aux, Audio, Instrument etc...] 4) Sample or Ticks 5) Track Names. If there are multiple tracks to create, give us the option to name ALL new tracks at the create stage, or bypass the naming at this stage. This way when... more »

Session Documentation

I could really use an in-session documentation feature. I always include a RTF file with a log of my hours that I worked and what I did. It would be nice if PT had a feature that would log my hours and allowed me to comment on this log and then print or export it. This would be a simple feature to program and would make documentation much easier to keep on top of.
