If you commit a track that has automation, but the automation is turned off, the automation will be set to "read" on the committed track. I had a track go from -35 db to -10 db after I committed it. I had previously turned off the automation.
When making cuts to regions on an alternate playlist while playing back the main or alternate playlist, the audio drops out similar to how it sounds when adding an insert.
Upon import into a new session, often the track will have no clips whatsoever on it (though the audio files are pulled into the new session). This used to happen only when the sessions had different timecode start times (which is itself an unforgivable bug, but w/e, you have a monopoly.), but recently it is happening even when all settings on both sessions are identical. In addition, sometimes the clips WILL appear,... more »
When working in surround I work with mono tracks, grouped together in sets of 5.1 (ie 6 mono tracks). Tracks are grouped as Mix/Edit and Main panning is linked within the group. When I option click the panning grid to reset the panning to default on one of tracks, Pro Tools crashes. This is repeatable and has occurred across multiple versions. If I suspend the group before reseting the panning, then no crash occurs.... more »
Seems that in Pro Tools Ultimate 2018.4, tabbing to the previous transient (Opt+Tab) jumps backwards at a random rate.
Its a known problem that big plug in chains on the PT masterbus are making the CPU meter nervous and produces AAE-9173 errors, also when the CPU is less than 50%. The AAE can not handle those plug in chains in real time. this do not depent on the CPU power. I have the following idea: Please give us an option in the audio buffer preferences for an "extra large audio playback buffer size" for handling big plug in chains... more »
Pro Tools 12.4.0 Deletes 90 percent of recored takes in CLIPS folder though all audio files are still in Audio Folder! Been with pro tools since 2007 NEVER seen this before! Very scary!! Had Avid tech just now, he's never heard of this either. He couldn't fix this has to go to superior and get back to me tomorrow.
AVID this is a MAJOR BUG NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW!
When opening sessions that require re linking files, PT Ultimate 220.127.116.117 crashes during the relinking process. I can relink without crashing only if I choose to do so manually.
Every time I drag an audio file from Pro Tools browser window into session edit window, the clip fails to copy with "Unknown Error".
I am using Pro Tools 18.104.22.1687 on macOS 10.13.4. I have the setting enabled to copy audio files on import. If I close the session and open it again, the files are successfully copied. But this is very annoying to have to do every time I want to hear the audio file in the session.
Hi, This is a description of the session that I am sending with this post : 2018.3.0 on HDX System on osx Sierra and MacPro 2013 six Core 3,5GHz I have a session with 3 tracks, all routed to Main Stereo output 1 - Source mono track with one bus send 2 2 - Blank Stereo track with Native RT Flanger with one bus send 2 3 - Aux Track sourced on bus 2 with inserted Native D-verb mono to stereo with solo defeated Additional... more »
If I delete a clip from the timeline, select usused and move it to trash... it doesn't go to the trash. Not searchable. It's just GONE.😡
In order to have very short track names i would like to use the "&" symbol as a ideally short name for my MIX-BUS (where all signals are "added"). Unfortunately pro tools does not show up this [&]-symbol inside the bus-menu which is confusing.
FYI: testet with ProTools Ultimate 2018.4 and latest macOS 10.13.4 HighSierra
Note: The alternative "Σ" [Sigma] symbol is used for my MASTER before Mixbus already.
As shown in the video.
I don't know if this is supposed te be a 'feature' but is has been around since version 9 at least.
Pro Tools behaves as if a clip has no handle length but it has plenty.
This is very annoying as I need to adjust the other side and then move the fade to the correct position.

Windows 10 display scaling makes Pro Tools fuzzy on HiDPI Screens and using native resolution on UHD Screens makes Pro Tools too small. Other DAW's can display correctly.
Pro Tools looks beautiful in macOS on HiDPi Retina Displays however, in Windows it looks awful.
An option for HiDPI Mode in Preferences would be greatly appreciated.
I've just started my first score mix for an Atmos feature film, working in Atmos Bed 7.1.2 format, in PT 2018.3 (I assume it was the same for previous versions, though have not checked). I'm running a single HDX card. The issue: .7.0.2 and .Overhead subpaths don't work correctly on internal busses (but they do work on output busses).
