Since the earliest days of PT automation the mutes have been a stumbling block. Somehow even if mute automation is inactive on the automation panel, they get written. I, out of habit deactivate mute automation by going to medium track view, select mute automation view, and apply option/command on the mute button - this deactivates all mute automation, making it a stupid switch. There is a world where automated mutes are ...more »
An additional "playlist" style option for each track that would let you recall plugin chains and automation sets.
This way instead of importing session data from previous mix revisions in order to undo silly client requests while still keeping all other mix revision changes you could just jump back to an other playlist of automation and plugins assignments/settings for each track individually.
Currently it is not possible to import an instrument or retrieve a preset for a track without also importing its automation from the previous session. So every time you use any of the two features, you have to proceed to erase that automation after, track by track. I think that this behavior is not the correct way it should work, and it should be adjusted by default to NOT importing / saving the automation, but the plugings, ...more »
Ok, that one might need a bit of explanation... When in an Automation Lane in the Edit Window, grabbing a line between two nodes works as expected. You move that (flat) line up or down. But we used to be able to grab the line between two nodes with the key modifiers option-shift, and conveniently, the Automation would ramp up and/or down from the previous or next adjacent nodes, creating something like a roof with the ...more »
Today it's always a manual process to toggle which is the active video track.
I want a new functionality to automate which video track is online in Pro Tools HD - when you have several video tracks...
When using volume automation to attenuate harsh sounds, such as fret noise on guitars (see attached example image), it would be beneficial to have the option to render the automation to the audio offline, thus not having to bus the audio to a new track and record.
"Convert/Coalesce Volume Automation To Clip Gain" & "Convert/Coalesce Clip Gain To Volume Automation" are currently only available in the HD version of Pro Tools. As it is not a feature that requires special processing power or an expansion of I/O possibilities it should be made available to all Pro Tools users.
See that huge boost in the low-mid (screen shot #1 -- brown EQ band)? I didn’t do that, but it was there when I opened my session. That unexpected bump seems to even be saved in every single session backup file - so there’s no going back. My guess is that the plugin doesn’t correctly (or at all) save its values in the session file, so when PT tries to open the plugin, from any .ptx file or any session backup, it can’t ...more »
Some of my mix sessions have A LOT of system delay on them.
What about offering a preference to 'push' automation back after a pass (similar to the 'thinning' option) by the system delay amount?
Some of my sessions have upward of 15,000 samples system delay and I have to manually nudge after every pass...
Would love a quick(er) way to remove errant pan info from a clip, similar to the clip gain reset hotkey combo.
In the Edit Window Clipnames are not visible when using Automation View (Pan,Vol etc)
They should be visible or , at least , there should be a preference to turn it on and off.
I waste so much time messing around with automation breakpoints trying to fine adjust to get them in the right place. I recently started learning Cubase, and found it incredibly useful to be able to manually set the time and value of automation points. Pro tools already has this functionality in the main counter when it comes to other selections such as clips or midi notes. So if you could just select automation breakpoints, ...more »
