When you hit command + opt + G and group a series of clips, it's currently to hard to distinguish that group short of the tiny little text at the top left, that many of us with high res monitors can barely see. I propose that when you group clips, that group is either colored differently or at the very least has a slightly different (darker or lighter shade) than the rest of the clips on that track. Example of use in ...more »
I would love to have an option to switch MIDI editor to DRUM EDIT MODE where there would be diamond or triangle markers for note start without showing its length. Would be also nice to have a possibility to switch from classic piano roll to MIDI note number mode, to set names for notes, load and save note names to file and display custom layers (e.g. show only named notes or show notes defined by user).
It would be great if you could hide members of a group but still have them follow group edits. For example. Let's say that you recorded a string section with spot mics on each instrument plus room mics and a deca tree. Then you did three passes to create a full orchestra sound. Adds up quick! . Being able to hide most of the members of the group would make for much cleaner editing. This could be a preference that could ...more »
In the Edit Window Clipnames are not visible when using Automation View (Pan,Vol etc)
They should be visible or , at least , there should be a preference to turn it on and off.
When editing track names and comments, you can switch to the next or previous track by using the keyboard shortcut [cmd+left/right arrow]. It would be very handy if this shortcut could also be used when editing memory locations. When the Edit Memory Location dialog is open, you could use [cmd+left/right arrow] to switch to the next or previous memory location, thus not having to close the dialog and double click on the ...more »
I would love to have a key command to start playback from the left window edge in the Edit Window. It's a feature found on Logic, and I remember having used it extensively back in my Logic days... It is just so convenient, because I find myself often working on a specific section, zoomed in in the Edit Window. I know there's commands to play form the cursor, or Pre-Roll or to the edit cursor etc. but it would be great ...more »
It would be very handy to turn that function on and off via the prefs menu. In some situations like high speed editing it is very annoying to have the insertion/selection always jumping to grid mode.
Have a feature in the Memory location window to put a clip separation everywhere there is a memory location marker for a highlighted track.
For those of us who edit LOTS of voiceovers, I will make separations at all the memory locations (bad parts in the script) so that when I'm editing....I don't move all the audio further down stream, causing it to be off it's marker.
Similar to freezing rows or columns in a spreadsheet program, I've often thought it would be great to be able to lock specific tracks at the top of your edit window so that they were constantly visible while being able to vertically scroll through the rest of your session. For example, keeping picture editorial guide tracks locked at the top of your edit window so they would be constantly visible / available for reference. ...more »
I would love to be able to see more visual separation of sections of my mix in the edit view window. I often find myself putting in extra tracks to act as separators between elements in my mix. If I could insert a dedicated 'separator' track - that looked unique in some way - it would work well as a quick visual reference for navigating my way around the more complex mixes. Even just the ability to add empty space ...more »
The Ability to record in the "Clip Source Window" a wild mono or stereo track, where the clip ends up in the Clip menu or a specified folder i.e Wild VO Records, saves a lot of time and maintains a clean timeline, rather than having to navigate through unneeded extra
tracks and clips on the timeline which is very time consuming. please see attachment.
Every time when I play my Pro Tools project and while playing I try to add an instrument track, or an audio track, or an effect, or a send or change the cycle Pro Tools will pause for a moment. When you are producing a track that is so annoying and it takes you out of your creative flow. I know no other sequencer on the market that has this issue. And this can't be a CPU or a Ram issue because the competition clearly ...more »
After using the 'track freeze function' I wanted to trim and duplicate a portion of 'frozen' audio, but Pro Tools 12.4 does not allow this.
It would be good to allow basic editable functions of frozen audio clips, like functionality found in Ableton Live 9 software. Using Ableton we can currently move; edit, cut, copy, paste and trim AFTER tracks have been frozen.
