To separate MIDI notes on the grid: 1. Set the Grid value. 2. Make an Edit selection or a marquee selection that includes the MIDI notes you want to separate. 3. Choose Edit > Separate > On Grid. 4. In the Pre-Separate Amount dialog, click OK. I've been using this feature a lot since discovering it hidden away in the edit menu, but I like to work quickly with keyboard shortcuts and I feel slowed down having to use the ...more »
Let us Custom plug-in map any parameter to "Any" Midi Controller (not just Avid apporaved ones) using the 'Right-click' button on our mouse? New Assignments would always overwrite Old Assignments Just right-click and just select controller of your choice, then may be 'save' my choice as MIDI Preset in some kind of drop down menu on the plugin, where you can bring up the settings again to overwrite the current settings ...more »
Currently, you can only select an individual channel when choosing a midi output on a midi track. Other DAW software I've used also allows the selection of Midi Onmi to a midi output. What this means is that any midi channel can be transmitted to a midi device or virtual instrument on a single track. The reason I am suggesting this feature is primarily to allow much easier integration with new multi-channel (MPE) midi ...more »
Will be great for musicians and producers to see the chords in the big counter, specially in recording session situations. I've seen this option in old softwares of big mix consoles.
Important: An option for MIDI chord recognition, and send them directly to the chord rule. AVID Sibelius is the best example for this option.
In my opinion, Pro Tools 12 is the most powerful DAW out there for every application bar MIDI, where it is seriously lacking compared to other popular/major brands. I think a MIDI Editor overhaul would be very well received by both current and potential Pro Tools users, and would complete such an otherwise well-executed DAW. Here are a few of my ideas: Shortcut Key Commands Octave Up/Down (same command for individual ...more »
I am opening up a new bug report, since the one that's listed here is listed as Fixed, but it's still happening on PT12.5.2!!! http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Score-editor-very-slow-to-open/31675-3779 please download attached file and open up session. attempt to double click on any midi region to load midi score view and observe that it takes anywhere from 30 sec to a min to open up score view. occurs both on ...more »
I utilise the transpose semitone key command all the time and would find a octave transpose key command very useful and a huge time saver.
Sorry if this is a repeat request... I think it would be great if there was a MIDI GUI where you can visually drag and connect certain functions on a MIDI controller straight to the Plug-In or other part of Pro Tools for control. For more clarification, if a company like Akai or M-Audio or Novation took a picture of their MIDI Controller, had little blue boxes around each knob/fader/slider/etc. that can be mapped, ...more »
It would be amazing to see some helpful composer tools added to Protools.. Much like Cubase.. Expression mapping would be great. Also Parabolic Midi curves rather than having to do it with a straight line etc.. Also - Some view options to see only tracks with regions on them i a selected area. I am sure there are plenty more. Just look at cubase and copy them.. That would be awesome :)
In PT 12.5 and 12.4 the midi functionality is so buggy as to be unusable. There are multiple issues - stuck notes, crashes, etc.
Now that alternative midi controllers are coming of age, it would be great to see support for MPE (multidimensional polyphonic expression). Bitwig's implementation is pretty good, AVID could more or less do the same, and maybe add some sort of snap/quantize to note editing. I know that currently PT12 has stability issues with VI's, and these issues need to be a priority. But I think the community at large should not ...more »
It would be great in the midi editor to be able to name the piano roll keys for writing drum parts or a drum editor dedicated to this.
MIDI Editor sometimes displays Ghost/Phantom Midi Notes...
Do not affect sound, do not sound, they disappear when I separate Midi parts in Editor Window. Low Priority.
Other's have seen Phantom/Ghost Midi Notes in OSX, PT12.
It would be nice to be able to have markers showing when opening a midi clip in piano roll.. Would save me a lot to time!
Pro Tools LE 5.1 open as 'blank' in PT 12.5.0
