I think a great idea - the ability to pay for the option. For example, I have PT 12 (non HD), but I need a surround option. I can not pay for HD version and I don't need other HD options.
I didn't find this suggestion in another post. I was wondering if Avid would consider adding USB 3 to their HD Native platform. Obviously, to give users the ability to plug in to either USB or Thunderbolt.
12.5 HD here, subscription expired end of May, not renewed. Let alone restart from $999. Not for the price in itself, but because, really, there's a lot of things I am paying for that I am not using at all. A Monitor Controller that sits on your desktop allowing you to control the output level of your Outputs.
I don't want to use an external Monitor Controller due to the phase differences and frequency shifting that they cause, a simple fader as a Master Out on my desktop could do the same thing.

Since this device is a Clock it should also be able to clock a PCe Video Ouput Card! (Reference In)
So it is able to avoid drift bettwen Video and Audio when using a PCIe Card for Video Playback.
