looking to now more about plug ins
9172. I WANT to subscribe and pay the $1K per year but I'm frozen at 12.5. I WILL buy it when Pro Tools works without crashing or me having to reset buffer, toggle delay comp 10+ times a day. Have used Pro Tools since when Digidesign was a sample edit app (80s). Then onto Sound Designer/Tools etc. A friend who's having the 9173 issues bought 18 and says it's worse. I think if there are plugins that are causing this problem ...more »
In different parts of production a project there is a need for different sets of markers. It would be nice to create different marker playlists much like there are for tracks. So if i make editing markers I can make a new blank marker lane for my mixing markers, but if I need to go back and reference my editing markers I can re-select the editing playlist and those markers will then become the current markers.
When programming soft keys in EuControl, please add a copy/paste option that will copy/paste all button attributes, including commands, label, icon, color, etc. When recreating existing buttons on User Pages, it is very time consuming and tedious to try to recreate the look and feel of buttons that are pre-programmed on other pages. For example, when recreating the Previous Playlist and Next Playlist buttons on a ...more »
Ever since the relink window was introduced the size adjustment has been awkward. Always the first frame edge to be adjusted is the one below the "select area to search" because it never will show all the drives etc. needed for pointing to. Grabbing that lower frame edge results in its resize, BUT only to the edge of the next lower frame edge where it is forced to stop. So then that next lower one needs to be moved, before ...more »
ProTools has always hung up on the existing region size when trimming a fade between two regions. It seems like an oversight. If the trimmer is being used, it seems logical that anything associated with the fade - including underlying region, should change length to match fade need. I have not encountered a situation where the underlying region limit needed to be upheld when changing fade size.
PluralEyes (os something that lines up regions by matching waveforms) would really be helpful when conforming audio to video, as there's no auto-conform (that would be nice, too) in PT. Most video editors now have this feature. Really strange that PT doesn't.
When using an external clock, if you open a session that's at a different sample rate than the clock is currently set at you get an error message. If you don't remember what rate the session was at (or don't know) you must open the Session Setup (command-2) to find out what it is. There's lots of room in that header - sure would be a great piece of info. to have up there (after all these years!!)
When working in the MIDI editor window, applied Retrospective MIDI notes don't show up at first. They play, but you can't see them until you refresh the the MIDI editor window by closing/reopening or zooming out and back in. Other than that, I'm loving that PT is finally starting to catch up to Logic and Cubase on this front. PT 2018.7 on Win7.
With today's great use of software instruments that uses different MIDI CC to widely different things it would be very helpful if we could customise the name of the different CC. For example, CC11 that is named Expression is often used for Dynamics. And CC1 that is named Mod Wheel is often used for Dynamics or Vibrato. But the usage is differs from instrument to instrument and even often customisable in the instruments. ...more »
Today Pro Tools uses OS X .midnam files for naming patches for external MIDI devices. However, today there's more common to use software instruments than external MIDI devices so we need a way to handle patch names for software instruments. There is a workaround to use these files for software instruments, but then you have to create fake devices and connect them to a real midi device. And then you must choose both the ...more »
This is driving me mental. When working and editing on larger sessions - especially 5.1 - The Trim tool is operating incorrectly: So while in trim mode, and ie clicking and holding to adjust a clip boundary, if I 'let go' and move my mouse cursor to continue on with another task, the clip will NOT stay where I had 'let go' and instead moves with my mouse cursor! It's more apparent the more Protools has to think ...more »
