Dialogue Editor package

I would like there to be a Dialogue Editor specific package available. Right now PT is either geared toward Music producers or Mixers. PTHD only has one feature that is useful and important to dialogue editors, the Field recorder track function. To charge us the HD premium for that one single function is ridiculous, especially when we'll never use all the other features as we don't do any mixing or creation. On top of... more »

Add Scrollbar to Windows Lists

It's obvious that the UI was developed with Mac in mind. But there are some missing functions in PT for Windows that should always follow the OS defaults. One of these are the list dialogs, for example, the I/O list. Currently, it the list is longer than the dialog can display, you have to click a little arrow at the top or bottom of the list in order to scroll through the items. The most scroll wheel doesn't work. Since... more »

Option to Link Edit Tools between Edit Window and MIDI Window

I do a lot of editing where I'm jumping back and forth between the regular edit window and the MIDI window. I'm constantly undoing an edit because I forget that the tool I was using in one window is not the one I was using in another. Very frustrating. Please add a setting that would give us the option to Link those tools so when you make a tool change in one window, it changes it globally.

Add Track(s) to Group

The process for adding a track or tracks to a group or multiple groups is antiquated and extremely time consuming. There should be a way to highlight a track or multiple tracks, right click, then select a group or multiple groups to add them to. I have a large orchestral template with many groups. Sometimes I need to add a track to all of my groups and it takes me 10 minutes to click on each group, scroll to the new track,... more »

"Plugin Missing - Search Plug-ins (Unused) Folder ?"

Pretty Simple - If you open a session that is missing a plugin, one of the options (besides visit Avid Marketplace) should be to search in the "Plug-Ins (Unused)" Folder. The reason is that now Plug-in devs are issuing upgrades with new unique names, rather than just updating the version. For instance, I have Clariphonic DSP, and Clariphonic DSP Mark II (newer version) in my Plugin folder. I will probably never... more »

GROUPING TRACKS LIKE EVERY OTHER DAW... why make it hard?

I'm new to Pro Tools and I am currently building an orchestral template. I would like to group my tracks together such as pianos as one group or strings as another but the template could end up being very large so hence it would be nice to collapse these groups with a single action or button or shortcut but still have a single track of them. One track that has multiple tracks in it and subtracks in those. That way i could... more »

Allow track type to be changed for empty tracks

Enable the channel width of an empty track to be changed (mono to stereo, etc.), and any empty track able to be changed to any other type (MIDI, Instrument, Aux, etc.). It should be doable in such a way that plugins don't change where possible. E.g., an Audio track with a set of plugins but no audio on it should be able to be turned into an Aux track with the same plugins and settings.

Playing / Printing Virtual Instrument Performance To An Audio Track In Real-Time Through A Bus

Very often I want to capture a VI performance on an audio track while it is being performed. I would like to do this for a many reasons, the main ones being: 1 - I've run into multiple situations where there are aspects of the performance that aren't captured with MIDI. 2 - It saves CPU by having less VI instances. I'd like to be able to live-print the VI performance to an audio track by routing the instrument track's... more »
