I rely heavily on the ability to freely adjust buffer settings within an open working session; I need lower buffer settings to record new tracks, and often much higher buffers to mix/master. My workflow involves mixing as I go along, and Pro Tools on a Mac (with the UAD Apollo) allowed me to do this for years. Pro Tools 12.4 on a PC running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit requires a complete quitting of Pro Tools (not even just ...more »
When I import session data, "Consolidate from source media" still copies the entire file to the new session's audio files folder. From the manual (pg. 336 in the 12.4 reference guide): "Consolidate from Source Media Use this setting to copy the audio from the source project to the Pro Tools session, while removing all unused areas in the copies. For example, you might only be using ten seconds of a ten-minute audio file ...more »

Be Aware.. I have a 7.1 Output in my I/O. When using a 5.1 Bus & mapping to the 7.1 Output you lose the Rear Surrounds. If you create a 5.1 Output & Map your 5.1 Bus to that it works fine. Sat with a Dolby Specialist & diagnosed this..There is a bug when mapping to the 5.1 bus of a 7.1 output.
I wanted to Randomize a number of notes all with the same velocity in the MIDI Editor. So... I enabled Scale By set to 100% then changed the Randomize amount. Instead of simply randomizing the notes, Pro Tools is creating duplicates. The higher the Randomize parameter is set, greater numbers of duplicate notes are created. This is with 12.5.2 HD.
In ProTools 12.8.2 (perpetual), everything was running fine. Suddenly, I had issues with intermittent pausing during session playback, plug-ins freezing then loading, meters freezing in place. However, ProTools didn't crash - just odd pausing 2 to 3 times every other minute on multiple functions as mentioned. Could a large buffer setting cause this issue (1024)? Not really sure what could be causing this. I'm running ...more »
The Elgato Stream Deck is not a "qualified" third party device to work with Pro Tools. It works completely fine in Pro Tools on MAC OS, but does not work correctly within Windows when assigning a button to a hot key using the 'alt' modifier key. Dear Avid support, Setup 1: If you are not familiar with the Elgato Stream Deck, it is a fully customizable LCD screen with buttons to trigger basically anything you please ...more »
For the love of god, we need new drivers for the firewire audio device MBOX 3, it no longer works with PRO TOOLS on Windows 10. It was working when I upgraded from 8 to 10, but since making a clean install it no longer works. When you bring up the mixer panel and move sliders they are very jumpy, eventually it is a BSOD. I have cleaned drivers, reinstalled, changed out the firwire PCIE card. MBOX 3 no longer is compatible ...more »
(This is a bug report which I prevoiusly posted in S3 bugs by mistake. Since posting this I've also tried relocating ProTools to the desktop and disabling my firewalls based on comments in other forums, to no effect) 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, Intel core i7-6700K CPU 4.00 GHz, 16 GB RAM, running ProTools 12.5.2 In collaboration tools, both the "invite another user" and "artist chat" buttons create a blank popup window ...more »
