Pro Tools Feedback Ideas

A preference that allows selected tracks to be grouped until deselected. With this feature I could just shift click two tracks and control their volumes together for a second until I select a different track.

This way you can set your Sub Groups as Wide Meters while all the other normal tracks remain as Normal, which means you can quickly Identify the Sub Groups because they will stand out.

Put an indication "G" in the header (next to the "S" solo and "M" mute) to indicate that all groups are active or suspended.

Plugin groups would be just like mix and edit groups. there could be 2 different types of plugin groups. control groups that link parameters so that when you change a parameter, it changes globally on all plugins in that group that are the same plugin. the other would be bypass groups which you could link any plugin to the group and bypass all the plugins in the group globally.

Make a special group feature that properly groups multiple playlists by name AFTER you record. Too many of my pro tools students learning to group are screwed when trying to assign groups after they have recorded. Why not add a group by matching playlist name..... So all playlists they end in .03 or .comp or any matching suffix get grouped?

There are few things that I want to group as much as a pan - having groups panned by the VCA would be awesome!! Before anyone suggests otherwise, I know what a traditional VCA is... and in addition to this, I want to pan before I reach an aux/bus - for instance if you want to creat an object with panning information in it that you then rotate / pan.

Right click on the track name. The resulting menu gives you the option of add to or remove the track from the groups.

Just like selecting inputs and outputs, hovering over "Add to group" gives you a drop down list with all the groups. Click the group and bam, it's added.
Hover over over "Remove from group" gives you a list of all the groups the track is in. Click the group and bam, it's not in that group anymore.

Let's paint the scenario :
You've already and succesfully blended 2 tracks together (e.g. Bass DI at 0dB + Bass MIC at -4dB)
everything seems to be perfect so you go further in your mix...
Then you want to change the balance between these 2 bass tracks, here appears the trap ! each time you increase a fader, you must decrease the other one in the same range, because each modification on a fader changes the global volume... more »

Add these options when right-clicking a track or a selection of multiple tracks:

- Add to Group > [show group list, highlighting groups already assigned to the track(s)];

- Remove from Group > [show groups currently assigned to this track] – this is greyed out if the track(s) hasn't been assigned to any group.

Example : a mix group containing 1 mono and 2 stereo audio tracks, all 3 with an Eq37 on insert "a", mix attributes set to insert control/bypass.
All 3 Eq's have the same low cut enable, the same low cut freq, the same ... ,
but when moving the , e.g., low cut freq in the mono track Eq, only that one moves, not the low cut freq of the Eq's of the stereo tracks.

In PT 12.8 on Win7, using keyboard shortcuts for soloing, muting, record enable, etc. sometimes will be applied to all members of a group immediately after the group has been disabled via keyboard shortcut. For example, create a group designated by letter a. With keyboard focus on GROUPS:
1. type "a" to enable the group
2. type "s" to solo the group
3. type "s" to unsolo the group
4. type "a" to disable the group

It would be great if you could hide members of a group but still have them follow group edits.
For example. Let's say that you recorded a string section with spot mics on each instrument plus room mics and a deca tree. Then you did three passes to create a full orchestra sound.
Adds up quick!

It would be efficient to have a way to choose mirrored playlist editing in the same fashion as mirrored Midi editing.
Especially when performing cut time or add time commands. A simple checkbox would suffice.
When moving sections of a song around this is a workflow killer.
For example. If you decide to copy and past a chorus to double it or remove an instrumental section, you need to be able to have the playlists follow.... more »

It would be great to have an option to temporarily group tracks together to pan them without having to create a permanent group. This could be a combination of modifier keys with selected tracks or just a on option to turn on or off a Panning group of selected tracks.
