My suggestion is that the Pro Tools Mixer has Playlists. So for example: 1. You could duplicate a mix, try different things, go off at a tangent etc. 2. Create a new mix. "Zero" the mixer and start again with the option of going back to the original. 3. Move tracks between mixes. For example, duplicate a mix and get a better drum sound, then copy those tracks into the original mix that was otherwise fine. 4. Splice sections ...more »
I wanted to Randomize a number of notes all with the same velocity in the MIDI Editor. So... I enabled Scale By set to 100% then changed the Randomize amount. Instead of simply randomizing the notes, Pro Tools is creating duplicates. The higher the Randomize parameter is set, greater numbers of duplicate notes are created. This is with 12.5.2 HD.
You know those occasional moments when you hit shift+play and get half speed/octave lower playback.... and it sounds AMAZING!
Just had one of those moments.... I wish there was a way of capturing that as an audio file.
Here's an example. I have two clips one after the other. There is a gap after the first one that needs filling so I use the TCE tool to timestretch the first clip with an overlap over the 2nd clip to allow for a crossfade. Obviously this overlaps the second clip so I would use Bring to Front on the second clip. However, Bring to Front doesn't work in 12.4. This is 100% repeatable on my system using X-form as the TCE ...more »
PT12.4... The keyboard commands to open the MIDI Editor and MIDI Event Editor are broken. The Window Menu flashes twice in quick succession but neither window opens. I've checked in OS X Preferences>Keyboard>Shortcuts but nothing is clashing. Note: I'm using an Apple British keyboard.
Avid Technology, Inc. has stated that it’s previous generation TDM technology will cease to be supported from Pro Tools version 11 onwards. Version 11 will be the first 64 bit release of Pro Tools and Avid has stated publicly that it is technically impossible to implement TDM technology in a 64 bit environment. TDM users will therefore be forced to purchase Avid’s new HDX technology if they wish to upgrade to Pro Tools ...more »
Each instance is hogging a whole DSP chip but only using up 13% of the available horsepower.
Today I had a session with three instances running which hogged three whole chip but were only measuring 39% DSP usage overall. That's over two and a half chips wasted!!!
Please can we have DSP sharing for the Virus Indigo.
I'm clicking in the top half of a region with the Smart Tool (so the i beam appears) to place the cursor. Sometimes when I'm doing this everything in the Edit window gets selected. It's like I've hit select all. If I switch to the Selector tool it still happens. Then, wherever I click in the session with the Selector tool or upper half of a playlist with the Smart Tool, everything remains selected rather than simply ...more »
Title says it all really.
Would love to see 40% off if say 200 people sign up to buy the Massenberg TDM EQ or Heat.
Under Event Operations it would be cool to have some means of remapping or modifying MIDI CC data. I'm thinking at the very least the ability to remap say CC7 to CC11 or Breath controller to CC1 etc. Also a means of scaling/expanding/compressing CC data with a "within range" option would be nice. Further to this, in the MIDI Editor, it would be useful to copy or cut controller data in one controller lane and paste ...more »
When I install a new version or update of Protools, it would be great if the previous version remained installed and intact.
Event Operations > Change Duration > Remove Overlaps
This isn't as useful as the equivalent in Logic and DP. At present, it only seems to work on notes of the same pitch.
It would be far more useful if it also worked on ALL selected notes of any pitch. That way you could clean up a monophonic bass line in a hurry for example. The Legato function is no good for this as it also lengthens any short notes.
