I think we need a button "Automation Follows (Not Follows) Edit" at the Edit window toolbar. It should turn glowing red when automation is NOT following (I'd prefer it flashing as well). It's time consuming digging into menus every time I need Automation to NOT follow edit, and I don't know about you, but I always forget about it and have to undo several edits when I realise that automation is screwed up. Please.
I understand that it would be a hell of a coding job... But, it would be nice to have separate undo threads for editing and mixing. For example I edited some sound, hit play and did some EQ change on the way. I don't like what I edited but I like the EQ change. In current PT I need to undo mix pass then my edits, thus loosing my EQ changes. If I only could undo editing and leave mix pass alone, that would save me some ...more »
It would be nice if we could have "iTunes style" search in region list. No need to call up separate "Find" window, just place a search field right above region list. And filter regions by name as I type. Just like Spotlight in Finder or itunes or everything in Mac Os works.
In current PT If I need to name 30 tracks e. g. Foley 1--Foley 30 I need to do it one track at a time. This is rather time consuming when dealing with large sessions. It would be nice if I could select a number of tracks, type "Foley" and let Pro Tools assign consecutive numbers to "Foley" automatically. PT should be smart enough to understand that if I type "Foley 10" I need track names start from 10 and on. And it would ...more »
If I trim automation with mouse and range I selected does not contain any breakpoints everything is fine - PT creates breakpoints at selection borders. But if there are some breakpoints inside the selection, trimming is often unpredictable - PT Just raises breakpoints inside selection and most often this is not what I need. Could PT ALWAYS create automation breakpoints at selection borders? This would eliminate need of ...more »
It would be nice if we could trim automation data from keyboard. Select range with mouse - trim with keyboard in 1 db increments. 0.1 db and 5 db with a modifier key. It could even be implemented that *volume* automation is trimmed with a keyboard without switching from a waveform view, just select region and trim volume, no need to see automation lines.
I'd like to be able to attach a label to an audio region - separate from region name. I'd like to keep region name intact and add comment to a region - e g I have a bunch of horse sounds and label them "left horse footsteps" "right horse footsteps" "left horse whinny" etc. Those labels could pop up when I hover over region, be accessible at rightclick or displayed in place of region names, user definable.
In post we usually output video to a dedicated display. It would be nice to have a second small (very small) QT window in edit window so we could do simple tasks like spotting picture cuts/scene breaks without looking at the main video monitor. There's a lot of grey space on the toolbar of edit window, second tiny QT window could be placed there.
