I often do several songs in one session. Especially bands that come in to do 5 or 6 songs in one tracking session. So there's KICK, SNARE, HAT, BASS etc. So I will, at the start of a take of each new song, create a marker with the song title, I.E. JohnnyBGoode. I enter the name in the marker field, select Ctrl A for ALL to highlight all the text, CTRL C to copy the selected text, hit the numeric pad "enter" to create ...more »
Everything can be color assigned except for the busses selector button on the mixer. A mis-bussed track could easily be spotted by an obvious different color. This is so much more significant than a track color. If there is no track or clip color it won't screw up a mix. A mis-bussed track will.
When drawing a harp or any gliss, being able to click on the pencil in the midi editor or note view in midi track window and drag the pencil diagonally up or downwards to add a string of diagonal notes. Even nicer would be to set a logical chord related note filter type glissando thing during the process that would select only notes that belong in the string. But even without that you could just manually delete the notes ...more »
Option to automatically switch from whatever selected tool to Pencil Tool when zoomed in at sample level view, and return to previously select tool when zoomed back out. For Example, When jumping in and out of clicks you can be in smart tool say then chiclet #3 to magnified wave view at chicklet#5, draw out click, then chicklet back out to #3 to previous view and get back to smart tool. = nicer work flow.
I have created windows configs in my templates so I can pull up all the plug-ins that are on a given series of track for I.E. all the floor tom, the left rack tom and the right rack tom's EQs, compressors, etc, or another would be the top and bottom snare processors, or all the vocal plug-ins, Master channel plug-ins, Delays, or Reverbs, so all can be pulled up in view simultaneously on my dual monitors for quick access ...more »
I was just informed that in Pro Tools 12.8.2, going forward, AVID programmers have abandoned the link feature altogether in preferences because they can't figure out how to fix it.. This means now you have to continuously enable groups every time you want to edit grouped tracks and then disable to avoid mixing grouped faders unwantingly. Please vote to make them figure out how to fix it. What's next?
Where'd it go?It's been broken in 12.7 and I pointed out to tech support and it was fixed and broken again in HD 12.8.0 and 12.8.1 Windows and now in 12.8.2 the Link MIX/EDIT Group Enables preference is gone altogether. ???
I was hoping to get a better picture about MIDI velocity where it pertains to crossfading between two samples of the same instrument. I thought that that was part of the improvement of using sampled instruments was that there is a crossfade between a sample recorded softer and a sample recorded louder and that the greater the velocity, the greater the BLEND of the two sample become until the higher sample is most dominant. ...more »
I thought we straightened this out. I should not have to turn on automation to send midi volume controller data to a midi instrument. Or any controller data.Modulation and sustain, among others, are not affected by automation. Nor should the rest of the data (unless options could be set). Please remove any midi controller data that currently exists in Pro Tools Automation tree
I wish that, when a plug-in is notified as missing, it's PARAMETER SETTINGS were available so at least you could alternatively use a similar available plug-in set to those parameters which would allow you to come closer to the intended mix.
When I am editing vinyl clicks while zoomed into the wave form at the sample level it's time to select the pencil tool to draw out the click, and then "Chicklet" back out to overview the waveform to scrub to the next click and also switch to the selector tool to navigate to the next click and then zoom back in to the sample level again at which point again selecting the pencil tool.and then repeat on and on, click after ...more »
The ability to position the scribble strip by dragging up or down or just fix it in the center of the mixer so it can never be lost from view.
