An added feature that would copy "Length" field amount to "nudge" field amount with a click or command would be great.
As those fields are dived by feet/frames etc they require extra clicking, not as easy to cut and paste. A data transfer button would be cool. I use these fields all day long.
Shift Command C/V used to copy and paste plug settings does not include the setting name, which really matters in heavy use.
Since the earliest days of PT automation the mutes have been a stumbling block. Somehow even if mute automation is inactive on the automation panel, they get written. I, out of habit deactivate mute automation by going to medium track view, select mute automation view, and apply option/command on the mute button - this deactivates all mute automation, making it a stupid switch. There is a world where automated mutes are ...more »
Ever since the relink window was introduced the size adjustment has been awkward. Always the first frame edge to be adjusted is the one below the "select area to search" because it never will show all the drives etc. needed for pointing to. Grabbing that lower frame edge results in its resize, BUT only to the edge of the next lower frame edge where it is forced to stop. So then that next lower one needs to be moved, before ...more »
ProTools has always hung up on the existing region size when trimming a fade between two regions. It seems like an oversight. If the trimmer is being used, it seems logical that anything associated with the fade - including underlying region, should change length to match fade need. I have not encountered a situation where the underlying region limit needed to be upheld when changing fade size.
With enough frequency the only solution to a session acting "funny" is to import the tracks into a new session.
A Pro Tools Utility for automatically reconstructing (importing) corrupted tracks into new session, and organizing folder, would be a nice tool to have.
Presently a user can import tracks and related data from a session. This is highly useful when a session has become corrupted. It would we a great improvement if the clip list (region list) source files could be retrieved in this manner too. As far as I can tell this cannot be done presently. If one has spent hours or days importing files that are referencing hundreds or folders or drives - unless they are used in tracks, ...more »
Ability to change edit window scroll choice while playing instead of menu item being greyed out during playback. Needed for mixing and editing.
As description says, the original design has never been updated to follow most recent files as they are added. User always sees top of list (first few adds) and must scroll down to see most recent, which is useless if adding 10 or 50 files. Seeing the last adds is the only way to reference where in import selection user is relative to source folder. I think it would be more useful to register view with each newly added ...more »
When there are multiple video tracks in a session a key-command/region-select is needed to select which video track is to play. Having to reach to the left of tracks to select the blue button is so yesterday. especially with the large screens. This would be very usefui when comparing multiple videos when conforming.
Work would greatly benefit from the ability to determine the beginning and ending of areas (like group regions) but would cross some or all tracks and allow for the placement and editing of regions within. This would allow for the timeline based organization or cueing of work to be done, though not necessarily occupied with sound. These territories would be seamless upon the deletion within the timeline. The most important ...more »
It would be great to have an enhanced audio suite view having an editable timeline window/lane. Time length would be determined by selected audio file length. This would be great for on the fly creation of fx during theatrical mixes where the stability of the actual session is critical. Great for complicated pitching etc.
